These terms cover your use of RETROPRINT at retro-print.com. By creating an account or using the studio, you agree to them.

The service

RETROPRINT takes a photo you upload and renders it as a simulated retro print. It is provided free of charge, as-is, and we may change or withdraw any part of it at any time. There is no uptime guarantee — this is a personal project, not an enterprise service.

Your account

You need an account to use the studio, you must be at least 13 years old to have one, and you are responsible for what happens under it. Keep your credentials to yourself. You can delete your account at any time by emailing [email protected]. We may suspend an account that is being used to break these terms.

Your images

You keep every right you already had in the photos you upload. We claim no ownership of them and no licence to use them for anything except rendering the print you asked for. Uploads are held in memory only, for at most an hour, and never written to disk — see the Privacy Policy.

The prints you make are yours, including for commercial use. You only need to hold the rights to the photo you started from.

You agree not to upload anything that:

• you do not have the right to use;
• is unlawful, or sexualises a minor;
• is designed to attack or overload the service.

Every finished export carries an invisible provenance mark identifying it as a RETROPRINT render. Do not strip or forge it.

Publishing a design

You can submit a project to the public designs gallery. Publishing is optional, and nothing you make is public unless you submit it and we approve it. What is published is a copy of the design as it stood when you submitted it — its settings, its layers, the photo in it and pictures of the finished card — and it does not change when you go on editing your project.

You keep ownership of what you publish. By submitting a design you confirm that:

• you made it, or otherwise hold the rights to everything in it — the photo, any pictures or logos placed on it, and the words;
• nobody recognisable appears in it without their permission;
• it contains nothing unlawful, hateful, sexual, or meant to mislead.

And you grant, for as long as the design stays published:

• to us, a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to store the design, show it in the gallery, on its own page and in previews of that page, and to use it to show what RETROPRINT does;
• to everyone who uses RETROPRINT, a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to copy the design into their own account, change it, and use what they make from it for any purpose, commercial use included, without crediting you.

A person reviews every submission. We may decline one, and we may take a published design down at any time, without having to give a reason. You can cancel a submission, or unpublish a design, whenever you like: its page stops working and we delete our copy. That does not reach copies other people already made — those are their projects, and the licence above continues for them. A published design stays up if you delete the project it came from; it comes down when you unpublish it or delete your account.

Publishing is unpaid. We show how many people viewed, copied and rated a design. We hope to fund contributors one day, but nothing here promises that we will, and no count on the site is a promise of payment. If that ever changes it will be under terms you are asked to agree to first.

If you believe a published design uses your work without permission, email [email protected] with a link to it and we will look at it promptly.

Fair use of the service

Rendering runs on a single GPU, so please do not automate bulk submissions, scrape the site, or try to work around the rate limits. We may throttle or block traffic that puts the service at risk.

Our rights

The RETROPRINT software, its rendering pipeline, the site and the name remain ours. Using the service does not give you a licence to copy, decompile or reverse-engineer it, or to build a competing service from it.

No warranty, and limits

The service is provided “as is”, with no warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not promise it will be available, error-free, or that a render will look the way you hoped.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data, or for lost profits arising out of your use of RETROPRINT. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. As the service is free, our total liability to you is limited to £100.

Changes and ending it

We may update these terms; the date at the top of this page shows when. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it. You can stop using RETROPRINT at any time, and we may end your access if you break these terms.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protection of your own country's mandatory consumer law.
